the world is messed up - let’s put comedy to good use

CACA is a collective of comedians aiming to bring about a community of comedic practice for those who want to practice comedic action.

Comedic action means any action, event or performance that has a clear intent to strategically craft a comedic response to issues of systemic and structural oppression using comedy of any form, style, or genre.

And while we are at it…how about we promote comedy that changes the world too?

Comedy that isn’t only the “I went to my local on the weekend” kind of comedy (it’s great, but we some of us wanna do something else!)

Also, did you notice that comedy doesn’t have a HR department? We’d like to change that…so that more diverse comedy can thrive…

Queer, Blak, Indigenous, disabled, neurodivergent, feminist (just to name a few!) but really intersectional (not in a buzzword way, in a practical way!) and disruptively clever.

Let’s reclaim satire as a mode of political expression as scholar of satire Robert Phiddian (2019, p. 4) describes it…

“better understood as a mode, rather than a genre, an aspect of some texts which allows for the expression of hostile attitudes and emotions towards figures, practices and institutions of public significance”

Oh look…so nerdy there are references on the home page! Who would have thought…
